If you have one of those dastardly copies of Nicholson's Mechanic's Companion that's missing pages 23-26 which includes the two plates, you have a choice:

If you go the Download and Print route, you'll have to set your print preferences to print at original size in order to get the correct dimensions. Trim by hand to 8.5x5.5 and yer golden. If you print double sided, there will be a blank pages following the first plate and preceding the second plate. This is correct. If you don't print double sided, toss the two blank pages.

Thanks to the wonders of modern steroid injections, my thumb is back in order and not reminding me (as much) of the torture to which us baby boomers have subjected our bodies over the decades.

Full disclosure: Kerry contacted me some time ago about using a few images from the Toolemera website. As is my wont, I agreed without hesitation. Then, as is the way of things in the world of publishing, I waited with bated breadth for the book to be published.

My bating was amply rewarded by what I have found to be the most enjoyable and educational modern read on just about every aspect of hand planes that I can think of, and some that I didn't think of.

The Return of Mr. Nicholson

The fixed version of Mechanic's Companion is back in business. Orders are going out, orders are coming in and the world is happy once again.

If you have a copy missing two pages from the Geometry chapter (23-26) and would like a corrected copy, please let me know and I'll send out a copy free of charge.

Now it's back to working on updates for the Toolemera Press Museum site. It used to be the Free Stuff site, but there were too many people asking for free stuff, so I was forced to change the name to Museum. Annoying, but there it is.
