For the turn of the new year, amongst many other changes I'm working on a switch from Typepad to one of the alternate blogging platforms: Blogger or Wordpress. Which platform will depend upon just how things have changed at Blogger and if I want to mess with coding a new Wordpress blog.
Exporting a Typepad blog consisting of 525 posts and 1091 comments is a somewhat daunting task. The text part is not that hard to do. The image and links part is problematic.
Images would have to be manually replaced. Ewwwwww. He said in his best Valley Girl accent. Links would, in all liklihood, go dead. But links often go dead of their own accord.
Trial runs are in order. Much swearing and hair pulling (scratch the hair pulling, there is not enough there to pull) will occur. In the end, this blog will move to one of the free services just because.
If anyone has had the experience of moving from Typepad to Blogger or Wordpress and would like to chime in, chime away.
