For some odd reason, I have been stumbling across old tea caddies of a variety of sorts. This one is not so much a tea caddy as a tea chest. A chest for shipping lots of tea.
Dimensions are: 27" wide, 19" high, 17" depth
It's made of a soft pine, edged with rice paper, lined with sheet tin and labeled in a language other than English. The chest, or box, has a slight smokey scent to it that reminds me of Lapsang Souchong tea. The box boards are joined with a simple box joint that was made by hand, glued and nailed. Nails are used throughout the box as fasteners.
